Robbers have also borne the brunt of demonetization. Vikas Kumar, a labourer, was walking towards a bus stop in Greater Noida when he was accosted by two men on a motorcycle. They snatched his purse that had three Rs500 notes and fled. Just as Kumar was deciding what to do, he spotted them returning. They threw the purse at him and proceeded to chastise him, telling him that he should have carried money in 100-rupee notes.

Needless to say, the entire exercise cost several lakh rupees. All in the name of security, of course.
